Chaire Moyen-Orient Méditerranée

The Chaire for Middle East and Mediterranean Studies (Chaire Moyen-Orient Méditerranée) at Sciences Po-Paris is one of Europe's leading centers of teaching and research on Middle East political, social and economic questions, located at one of Europe's leading institutions of social science research. The Chaire is distinguished by a large and lively graduate community, a strong focus on field research and language skills, as well as close linkages to public and private sectors in Europe and the Middle East. Apart from its teaching activities, it organizes regular conferences and guest lectures, hosts visiting fellows and is lead organizer of the annual Eurogolfe Forum on Human Development. The Chaire is led by Prof. Gilles Kepel, a specialist on political Islam; several other Sciences Po professors are affiliated with the Chaire as full-time staff.

The Kuwait Program at the Chaire for Middle East and Mediterranean Studies is a Gulf-focused teaching and research program supported by the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences. Its mission includes research on the development challenges of Kuwait and the Gulf as well as networking between the academic elites of Kuwait, the GCC and Europe. It organizes regular guest lectures, operates a research and publishing program, accommodates visiting fellows and organizes executive training activities for public and private sector managers from the GCC. A professorship is attached to the program, currently held by Steffen Hertog, a political economist.
